Is Ilkley Yorkshire’s capital of cycling?

There’s no denying that Ilkley really is a great place to live – especially if you’re a fan of cycling! Ilkley is surrounded by some of the most spectacular cycling routes in Yorkshire and with family-friendly rides and challenging climbs, offers something for experienced cyclists and novices alike.

Here in Ilkley we’ve enjoyed a fantastic twelve months of world-class cycling action -all thanks to both the Tour de France and the Tour de Yorkshire coming through the town. There’s still a lot more for cycling fans to look forward too including Ilkley town centre cycle races due to take place on 24th June and the iconic White Rose Classic sportive on 28th June. In addition, Ilkley boasts one of the largest and most successful amateur cycling clubs in the UK so getting out and about on your bike has never been easier.

Ilkley is just a relatively short bike ride (or drive!) from some of the most stunning scenery in the UK and with the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Bolton Abbey Estate on the town’s doorstep, there’s plenty of opportunity to take in all that this wonderful part of the world has to offer – whether you’re a fan of cycling or not!
